Shofar on the Front Lines
As Rosh HaShanah and the high holidays approach, IDF Sgt. Maj. Y.M. Ben-Caro is collecting audio files of Am Yisrael (the Jewish people) sounding the shofar (ram’s horn). These recordings of the shofar will then be played on the front lines of the IDF in Lebanon during the Ten Days of Awe between Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur.
“This is a very special global initiative to bring the Jewish people together,” Sgt. Maj. Ben-Caro explained. “It is a powerful act of unity and expression of heritage and spiritual strength inspired by the Shophetim (Judges) of the Biblical era who sounded the shofar to call Am Yisrael together and request Divine Assistance for victory.”
Recitations of Tehillim for the welfare of IDF soldiers and also short devarei Torah are also welcome.
How to Participate:
Please send an email to Sgt. Maj. Y.M. Ben-Caro (address below) and include an audio file (or simple video with sound) less than 25 MB in size with a recording of the shofar, recited Tehillim, a short devar Torah, or other brief content of a similar nature. (Most smart phones have built-in apps to record audio, or there are options to download free voice recording apps).
